STAMFORD — The unicorn is a mythological creature often associated with magic and uniqueness. So Stamford officials decided to use it as a symbol of the city’s unique appeal to attract booming businesses.

The city launched the “Choose Stamford: A Real Unicorn” campaign in October 2025, starting with digital advertisements designed to attract new companies both in and outside of Connecticut.

Director of Economic Development Leah Kagan said ads are on LinkedIn, as well as on taxis, subways and bus shelters throughout New York City.

“We decided to launch a business attraction campaign earlier (last) year is because we really want to make sure that Stamford is on the radar of people who are decision makers for either their company or their startup when it comes to where they want to locate their business, and one of the best ways to do that is through marketing,” Kagan said.

Kagan said the city chose Cheshire-based marketing agency Rebellion Group to design, develop and execute the marketing campaign.
