Exploring Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo in Bridgeport spotlighted a central opportunity for regional tourism: making family-friendly, educational experiences accessible across the state while boosting local travel engagement.

Hosted in collaboration with Rebellion Group’s CT Season Pass initiative and featured on NBC CT’s CT Live, the segment brought viewers inside Connecticut’s only zoo to showcase its conservation efforts, immersive animal habitats, and hands-on family experiences, including the Prairie Dog Town exhibit.

The conversation highlighted how statewide tourism partnerships and digital passport programs can connect local families with top cultural attractions, foster wildlife conservation education, and drive economic growth through intra-state travel.

During the broadcast, Jim Knox (Curator of Education, Connecticut’s Beardsley Zoo) and Sam Barrett (Senior Vice President of Client Services at Rebellion Group) discussed the impact of the CT Season Pass on regional tourism. The segment highlighted how aggregating top state destinations into a centralized platform provides family savings while encouraging residents to explore local gems right in their backyard.

“Our work is rooted in education and conservation. We want people to feel that connection with animals—connecting wildlife and wild places, and building those moments and memories with families and friends,” said Knox.

“We take the view that a rising tide lifts all boats. It’s really about Beardsley working in collaboration with us and all other organizations collaborating to raise each other up, encourage in-state travel, and promote all the great things that exist in Connecticut,” added Barrett.
