Shaping CT’s Future: AI & Cybersecurity spotlighted a central challenge facing Connecticut: artificial intelligence is rapidly altering the economic landscape, requiring state leaders, businesses, and educators to move with speed to ensure workers are prepared for the future of work.
Hosted by CT’s leading brand marketing agency, Rebellion Group, the summit brought together roughly 600 leaders across government, technology, policy, and education to examine how Connecticut can harness the power of artificial intelligence, enhance workforce upskilling, and establish thoughtful policy frameworks around emerging technologies.
The conversation made clear that Connecticut’s future economic growth depends on how proactively policymakers and business leaders collaborate to make AI education accessible, upskill the local workforce, and address upcoming legal and regulatory considerations.
During the broadcast, state leaders including Dan O’Keefe (CT Commissioner of Economic Development), State Sen. James Maroney (D-14th District), State Sen. Tony Hwang (R-28th District), Matthew Wallace (CEO of VRSim), and Michael Vigeant (CEO of Great Blue Research) sat down with WFSB to discuss Connecticut’s AI roadmap. The discussion explored how businesses are rapidly integrating AI into daily operations—with recent polling showing 75% of small businesses using AI on an ongoing or daily basis—and highlighted the success of initiatives like the Connecticut Online AI Academy in expanding workforce readiness.
“It is our world right now. To not address it, to not fully understand its impact and how it’s going to impact our lives, would be sticking our head in the sand,” said Hwang.
“We don’t want to save the benefits just for the investors who are making money off of this; we want our whole population to benefit,” added Maroney.
