No Data. No Decks. No Problem.
Mercedes-Benz came to Rebel looking for content with a “social first” mindset — imagery that would inspire people to like, comment, share…and dream.
Normally, that kind of ask kicks our data engine into high gear: market research, competitor analysis, audience segmentation, and more.
But this wasn’t about KPIs. Mercedes asked us to capture something far less measurable: pure desire.

A Vision Rooted in Vibes
The Rebel Studios team landed on a “Vintage Vibe” — inspired by nostalgia but shaped by modern creative trends.
“We wanted something very Americana, very New England,” said James Dowd, Chief Creative Officer. “Scenes that could feel like today or 30 years ago.”
Instead of a linear story, we focused on stand-alone emotional moments. “That’s what social is,” Dowd explains. “Quick, emotional hits. You feel it and move on.”
The shoot took place at a seaside mansion, with models in linen and suede, iconic and modern Benzes side by side. Each vignette blending aspiration, style, and authenticity.

A Shop Built for Social
“Typical agencies outsource production. We don’t,” said Dowd. “Our art directors consider every detail—from lighting to the watches on models’ wrists. Most traditional crews rely on one camera. Rebel runs multi-cam productions, designed specifically for multiple uses across channels.”
Instead of chasing one “perfect shot,” we choreographed layered coverage: multiple cameras, some vertical for social, others horizontal for traditional. On the ground and in the air. Simultaneous stills and video.
The result? A rich library of content Mercedes-Benz used across platforms and formats.

Respecting the Creative Gods
Outdoor shoots come with unpredictable variables—weather, lighting, logistics. Rebel’s approach isn’t just contingency planning.
“We believe in a higher power,” Dowd said. “Plan all you want, but the Creative Gods will have their say. Respect them, pay homage, and they will protect the production.”
We honored the project’s energy—and were rewarded with a perfect day: 72 degrees, sun-drenched skies, and golden light that elevated every frame.ideo.

The Freedom of Vibes
This shoot reminded us that production isn’t just about data or gear. It’s about energy, instinct, and trusting the process—and the Creative Gods.
Under a flawless New England sky, we didn’t just create beautiful images. We captured a lifestyle, an aspiration, and a timeless feeling.
